Based out of New York, OfficeMedium was formed early in 2009 by a small group of highly-talented and highly-motivated web developers seeking to deliver the software and technology that every business needs but without the headache, confusion, and crushing price tag.

It is no surprise that every business needs software to handle their contact management, task list, calendars, file storage, communication, and more. The experiences and research of this group lead them to determine that most offices, small businesses especially, were implementing extremely inefficient and outdated technology, if anything at all. Between email tied to desktop clients, paper calendars, spreadsheets with contact information, remote desktops, overloaded inboxes, overpriced servers, and the overwhelming paranoid backups, we knew there was a problem.

A majority of business owners, when asked, were unaware that better solutions existed, and more importantly, were unaware of web-based alternatives. One business was paying $200 per user for contact management desktop software which they installed on a $2,500 server. Granted, it was some seriously powerful software, but most businesses don't need that - they simple just want to store their basic contact information. It's a combination of all of these principles and scenarios that OfficeMedium was formed.

We set out to produce web-based software that efficiently handled all of the main components that businesses needed. But most importantly, it had to be simple, straight-forward, and inexpensive. Small businesses and startups, especially, don't have the funds to waste on serious I.T. infrastructure. With OfficeMedium, your team of 10 can have web-based software for a mere $60 a month.

So with our focus and plan set, we went to work, and worked quite fast. By utilizing our skills, and most importantly, powerful and flexible open-source software (Drupal CMS), we went from concept to a production-ready release in just 7 months. We are currently privately funded, aiming on staying as lean as possible so we can continue to deliver great software at such a low price.

We officially launched to the public on October 7th of 2009. We hope to enlighten and help all of the business owners who are suffering with outdated, annoying software solutions, and show them how easy, and inexpensive, a web-based solution can be.
