Security

Security is always the first concern when it comes to the transmission and storage of business data.

Most business-owners are hesitant to adopt web-based software solutions because of the assumption that having web-accessible data is insecure. If the proper steps are taken, the use of web-based software can be just as secure as on-site networked software, if not more. What steps do we take to ensure security and reliability for our intranet software?

Professionally Managed & Secured Servers

Concern: Isn't it more secure to use our office servers to host software? Isn't our I.T. guy more qualified to handle the security of our data?

LiquidwebHosting data on a server that is located inside your office doesn't guarantee any level of security at all. In-house servers are also vulnerable to attacks, power outages, network failures, hardware issues, and even the personnel in the office. What are you doing to stay on top of these potential issues? How well prepared are you to detect and address these problems? Our servers are professionally managed and secured by a company who specializing in just that. The servers are located in highly-secured, technically-advanced data centers, virtually immune to power, network, and data outages, monitored 24/7 by a large team of professionals ready to immediately address any problem that might arise.

SSL Encryption

Concern: Isn't it more secure to transmit files through our work email? Isn't it dangerous to transfer files on to web-based software?

Chances are the messages and files you've been transmitting via email are being transferred unencrypted and insecurely, making the data vurnerable to hackers who could essentially gain access to the data as it travels from one computer to the next. Our software utilizes SSL encryption to encrypt and protect all of the sensitive data you send and receive over the web.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers. (courtesy of SSL.com)

Hardware & Software Firewalls

Our servers are locked down by hardware and software firewalls, providing two additional layers of security. Both firewalls function to prevent automated and intentional attack attempts from malicious hackers, as well as any unauthorized network traffic, keeping your data as secure as possible.

A firewall is a part of a computer system or network that is designed to block unauthorized access while permitting authorized communications. It is a device or set of devices configured to permit, deny, encrypt, decrypt, or proxy all (in and out) computer traffic between different security domains based upon a set of rules and other criteria.

Firewalls can be implemented in either hardware or software, or a combination of both. Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets.

Secure Software Built on Drupal

Concern: Why should I trust software that you offer? How do I know that it's secure?

DrupalOur software was built on top of Drupal, a widely-popular, open-source content management system. Hundreds of thousands of developers and companies trust Drupal to handle their web sites and applications, making it one of the most used content management systems available. Drupal is known for it's security, versatility, and performance.

Private Web Software

Concern: I don't want to share web-based software with tons of other companies and individuals.

When you sign up to use our software, you are automatically given your own private copy of the application for you and your employees or team members to use, along with a private database and file system for all of your data storage. Your private software will be located with the sub-address of your choice. There is no sharing.

Access Control Features

Concern: I simply cannot trust software that is accessible over the Internet. Is there a way I can only allow my team to connect to it through the office?

Yes there is. From within the software, you can set advanced filters to only allow access from certain IP addresses, such as your office network, as well as a number of other convenient access control filters. An IP address is similar to the street address of a house except it is specific for computers or networks.
